Aquabears swimmers selected to represent the North West

Aquabears swimmers Lucy Cannavan and Amarai Hoque have been selected to swim for next year’s English Schools Inter-Divisional Championships held at Crawley Pool in March.

Aquabears Swimming Club was formed in 1979 in response to the need for high level competitive club and as a local centre of excellence in Rochdale.  The club has had many successful years with a number of their swimmers achieving international success.

The competition is a long course level one meet,  with divisions posting teams from across the country.

Lucy, who attends Cardinal Langley RC High School in Middleton is currently second in the rankings for her 14 years age group in the North West for 50, 100, and 200 metres breaststroke.

This year, if the Junior team swim well, they could be selected to swim for the National Team at one of Europe’s top international swim meets.

All swimmers were selected based on their rankings from the end of the last swimming season, the top swimmers from the north west will join to form a competitive squad.
